Job Title: Crime Analyst
Department: Police Department

Salary Range: $34,245 - $42,806


Nature of Work

The Crime Analyst provides timely and pertinent information relative to crime patterns and trends to the Police Department managers and operations personnel, to assist in planning the deployment of resources for the prevention and suppression of criminal activities, and to aid the investigative process for the identification and apprehension of offenders. The Crime Analyst is a non-sworn, support position in the Police Department. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Police Captain. The Crime Analyst contributes to the planning for the future direction of the crime analysis function, acquiring and supervising interns and volunteers to assist with the crime analysis efforts, and assumes the lead role in preparing presentations to /for command staff to deliver in planning meetings and public forums. Develops and enhances the crime analysis capacity of the Police department. Mentors and supervises Records and data-entry personnel.


Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in business, public information, criminal justice or other appropriate fields is a minimum requirement. At least one year of related and progressively responsible strategic and administrative crime analysis or social services research experience is preferred. Certification, or Eligibility for Certification, as a Law Enforcement Analyst is preferred. Driver's license and good motor vehicle record.
